Located within the Grove Crescent Conservation Area, this project demonstrates how thoughtful design can successfully balance planning constraints with a client's aspirations. The clients approached us with an initial concept, but through a collaborative design process we explored a range of options that not only satisfied the conservation area requirements but also fulfilled every aspect of their brief.
The proposal comprises a pitched roof ground floor extension that creates a generous open plan kitchen, dining and living space, carefully orientated towards the east facing garden while also benefiting from large openings to the south. A new garage, designed with a matching pitched roof, sits to the front of the property, reflecting the character and proportions of the original house to create a cohesive and sympathetic addition.
Inside, the vaulted ceiling enhances the sense of space and light, giving the extension an airy and welcoming atmosphere. Large glazed doors on both the east and south elevations flood the interior with natural daylight and strengthen the connection between the living spaces and the surrounding garden, creating a bright, elegant and highly functional family home.
