A semi-detached Victorian house in Fairfield Conservation Area that has been practically rebuilt due to the scale of the extensions and extensive internal alterations.

The addition of a two-storey side and rear extension and a whole new layout accommodate four bedrooms, two bathrooms, front sitting room, open plan space kitchen/sitting/dining and utility room. The aim was to achieve airy and well-lighted spaces constrained by flank walls on either side of the property. Different floor levels have been created in order to give more head hight to the open-plan space, which is connected to the rear garden by a glass box. The first floor features vaulted ceilings in all rooms, and rooflights bring light to central areas such as the staircase and hallway. The new spaces have also allowed us to optimize the internal flow of what were once a dark and cramped areas.

The new volumes, sympathetic to the original house, have allowed us to create clean, high and bright spaces with vaulted ceilings and tall glazed areas.
